Body-Mind Centering®, or BMC™, is a transformative psycho-physical process involving movement re-education and hands-on work. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, an occupational and movement therapist from northern Massachusetts, BMC™ uses movement, touch, and voice to study how the mind is expressed through the body, and vice-versa.
BMC™ is a process of self-discovery which encourages students to “meet and recognize themselves and others” by understanding and accepting the place where they are right now. Using this as a starting point, learning takes place in an open, non-judgmental environment where every participant is both student and subject matter. This method is frequently used in fields as diverse as dance, athletics, occupational and physical therapy, child development, and music.
